Maps for Genealogy:  Old, New, & Digital

The Asheville Family History Center will be hosting a free seminar for all interested researchers on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 1 to 3 pm entitled  “Maps for Genealogy:  Old, New & Digital” taught by professional genealogist and author Ceil Wendt Jensen.  She will be presenting a lecture about the use of maps in family genealogy.  Whether it is finding the family farm on a plat map or the changing borders of a county or country; maps are indispensable.  A range of sources, types, and uses of maps will be covered.  The online collections make it easy to access maps of the time period you are researching.

The Asheville Family History Center is housed at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3401 Sweeten Creek Road, Arden, North Carolina.  You can pre-register for this event by contacting the center director, Cynthia Rush at CynthiaRush170@yahoo.com or calling the Family History Center at (828) 684-6646.  The Center is staffed by volunteers, and is open Wednesdays from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, as well as Thursdays and Fridays from 10 am to 4 pm.  Please register early, as space is limited.  All are welcome to attend.
