Hi Friends, Family, and Leaders,
On Thursday April 19th and Friday April 11th, the Forest City Ward conducted its 2014 Day of Service.
We worked at the Mary Mullen Bible Camp at 1900 Freemantown Road in Lake Lure, North Carolina.
The camp posted a Welcome to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on their billboard!
We participated in the following tasks: painted wooden ramps and rails that lead into the dormitory and Chapel, placed anti-snake moth balls around all camp facilities, trimmed and edged grass around camp buildings, mowed grassy areas, dug and installed drainage pipes under concrete walk ways to prevent rainwater flooding buildings, piled rip-rap down 100 yards of drainage ditches to control erosion, built a set of cinder block steps so that campers could use the rear exit of the dormitory, built picnic tables, and mudded the camp kitchen dry walls in preparation for painting.
Five ward members supported the effort for six hours each on Thursday. Total Thursday hours = 30.
and
Seven ward members participated for six hours each on Friday. Total Friday hours = 42.
Overall 72 hours of service time. Ward members commented on the spiritual feeling that they enjoyed while serving our community.
