In May 2015, Sister Sarah Oliphant of the Forest City Ward took a leave of absence from college to begin an 18-month mission in Nicaragua for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Like all Latter-day Saint (LDS) missionaries, Sarah will serve without pay from the Church. Her financial support will come from funds she and her parents have saved for that purpose.
Sarah joins thousands of other missionaries who are serving in locations throughout the world teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. LDS missionaries do not choose their area of labor, but serve where the Church calls them.
Before traveling to the Nicaragua mission, Sarah will have eight weeks of preparation and language training at the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo, Utah.
